A windy forecast is more useful when it lines up with your spot, preferred direction and available time. Wind Ready's above-threshold setting helps you look for stronger-wind opportunities for kitesurfing, windsurfing and sailing.

You choose the preferences. The app checks upcoming forecasts for matching windows, so you can spend less time repeatedly searching for the same conditions.

Set up a stronger-wind preference

1. Save your spot. Search for the beach, bay or launch point, or place a pin.
2. Choose a minimum wind speed. Select an above-threshold rule in your preferred units.
3. Choose your direction. Set the direction rule appropriate to your own plans and understanding of the spot.
4. Choose your days and hours. Look for a forecast that fits the period you can use.
5. Review and monitor a window. Inspect the forecast and use Pro monitoring to follow a chosen opportunity.

An example of the controls

For a fictional session, you could look for forecast wind above 15 kt from your chosen direction between 1 PM and 4 PM on Sunday. This demonstrates the controls; it is not a recommended wind threshold for any particular rider, boat, equipment or location.

An above-threshold match is not an upper wind limit or a guarantee of suitable conditions. Review forecast gusts, the full wind picture and official warnings, as well as your equipment, experience and local conditions.

Turn a forecast into a plan

Discover forecast opportunities up to 14 days ahead where data is available. A matching full period and a shorter option are different: inspect the duration before making plans. You can share a window or add it to your calendar, and Pro monitoring provides reminders and forecast-change updates for the window you track.
